Beverly Pierandozzi Research Grant
What is the Beverly Pierandozzi Research Grant?
The grant is named after our mother, for whom the foundation is named. (Her story)
Long has been the goal for the Beverly Fund to give back to early detection research, but we've never quite had the money to give anything that was meaningful. It just seemed that giving $25K or $50K in research grants wasn't enough to make a dent into any type of research. So we decided to focus our efforts on raising awareness. Through that effort our hope was that donors would see the need for lung cancer research and see the positive outcome of their donations through things like the Respiragene™ Test, the Lung Cancer Clinical Trials Matching Service and our Discover the Truth About Lung Cancer project.
A few years ago we decided to start putting money aside for a research grant with the hopes of making a substantial grant to research that concentrated on and hopefully brought to market an early detection method. Our five year anniversary is coming up in September 2011, which gives us one more year to raise as much money as possible. By the end of next year (if not sooner) we will make that research grant happen.
We will be talking with the other lung cancer organizations that give to early detection research to see if there is a possibility of collaborating and making the grant even larger.
Application Process
We will be opening up the application process in January 2011. More details to come.
